![]() "Equal spacing" = equal distance string centre to centre Anybody see s gauge used? Any moron can file a notch but to get it in the right place is the trick. Ive seen luthiers use a gauge on nuts but not bridge saddles. That is Steve Erlewine over at Stewmac on youtube their top luthier, who never mentions a gauge when showing how to notch saddles. I've been asking how to space bridge saddle notches for a week but until I posted how I measured my string gaps not a single person mentioned a gauge used on bridge saddles. Why would you have graduated bridge spacing yet produce PUs with symmetrically spaced poles? ![]() ![]() Each is the exact distance from the other. Do you see any difference in the gap between the poles? No. the gauge does not guarantee accuracy nor will you get accuracy. However you decide to space them there should be a mathematic premise behind it.Įven this space calculator you posted does not provide a jig to insure accurate spaced saddle notches. Do a search and you won't find a video on how to space strings on ABR1. Stewmac has a video with their top luthier who shows how to notch saddles. ![]()
